[Infrared Absorption] "Protex A"
Hello.
This time, I'd like to introduce "Protex A," one of the brands of Kanekalon's high-flame-retardant "Protex" fiber.
First, Protex® is a high-flame-retardant fiber with improved flame retardancy and heat resistance compared to Kanekalon. It is classified as modacrylic.
It boasts excellent flexibility and colorfastness, and exhibits superior flame retardancy even when blended with natural fibers.
Our standard Protex brands are "Protex C" and "Protex M."

Now, regarding "Protex A," this is a material with enhanced infrared absorption capabilities.
This material is currently used as a protective suit material against electric explosions known as arc flashes.
When an arc flash occurs, workers are subjected to incredibly high temperatures.
The temperature can reach as high as 19,500 degrees Celsius.
The energy generated at that time consists of two types: convective heat and infrared radiation.
While general Protex offers protection against convective heat, it does not protect against infrared radiation. Protex A was developed to address this issue.

Furthermore, Protex A, with its dramatically improved infrared absorption function, has the property of warming up very quickly.
Experiments have shown that when exposed to artificial sunlight for 30 minutes, its temperature is approximately 9 degrees higher than that of wool.
Of course, it also has flame-retardant properties, making it ideal for use as a blanket when sitting around a campfire outdoors.
